Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes Review

Yeah yeah yeah, I know you have probably already seen a lot of reviews on this product. I received this product from a friend who sells Younique product, so I wanted to thank Marissa for graciously sending me this! You can also check out her site and purchase things from her here.

I guess I should get down to business!

What does Younique have to say about their Fiber Mascara?

Our simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes.

Packaging: 10/10

You get this really cool case to keep both the tubes together, I thought that was a great idea. Keeps you from losing a tube or having to dig around for the other tube. It’s simple and black and you know exactly what it is, my favorite type of packaging.

Affordability: 5/10

How much for these two tubes and a really cool case? 35.00$ Not bad if I do say so myself. You get 7ml/0.23 fl.oz of transplanting gel and 0.5g/0.2 oz natural fibres. You could still get a drugstore mascara or even some higher end mascaras for less.

I compared not one but three layers of my favorite mascara against Younique.

First coat: 9/10

One coat of Younique did add more length to my lashes than my own mascara. There is less steps to using my own mascara than using Younique though. Mascara also held the natural curl of my lashes better.

Second coat: 5/10

It added more length again, which is pretty awesome. Once again if I used my own mascara it would take a lot less steps than Younique. I just can’t seem to get over the fact that I have to apply the transplanting gel, apply the fibres then apply one more coat of transplanting gel to glue the fibres on. A lot of work for lazy little me. Again, my mascara kept curl better.

Third Coat: 2/10

It fell apart by this coat. It became thick and clumpy, the fibres were going in weird directions. I had to take out a lash separator to make them look some what presentable. I would compare this look to “spider lashes”. The eye with my regular mascara was okay, I don’t normally apply more than 1-2 coats of mascara for this exact reason. It still looked less clumpy than 3D Fiber Mascara. I fear and also despise “spider lashes”. My mascara is even, unlike the 3D fiber lashes.

Durability: 7/10

This product doesn’t really flake off because of the fibres. If you don’t seal the fibres well enough they will fall onto your cheek though. Not fun. Just like flaking mascara, no one likes that. I do admit that most mascaras have this problem.

Overall: 6.3/10

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes is a great alternative to some mascara. With some mascara you aren’t exactly getting a natural product or a product without harsh chemicals or dyes. I like that this is natural and contains very little ingredients. I don’t enjoy the multitude of steps I had to take to just get three coats. From one tube, to another then back to the first tube. Not my thing. I didn’t think that it looked like my lashes, it looked like mascara, then bad mascara. Would I use it again? Probably, I did like the lenght it gave me with only one coat. As you could see I had more length with Younique than my own mascara. In conclusion, it is an okay product.

Thanks again for reading, I don’t enjoy saying bad things about products. I was skeptical about using this because of all the terrible pictures I’ve seen. I gave it a fair chance and it wasn’t as scary as I thought but I still didn’t particularly enjoy it. I was honest and I hope you guys respect that as much I appreciate it when others are honest about products.

TTFN lovelies.
